Farm animal practice of the future - a glimpse into the crystal ball
This presentation will take us on a trip around the world and show how vets and farmers work and their medicine market in different countries. The use of new technologies and diagnostics and how these might impact our future work will be discussed along with how other people, such as lay technicians and agriculturalists, are wanting to take over some areas which were considered a vet only role. The talk is intended to stimulate thought in how practices might adapt to future farmer needs and remain highly successful businesses.
- Many farmers are looking to substitute what were once considered tranditional vets tasks
- There will be demand for specialist proactive farm vets
- Vets need to demonstrate costs/benefit and show value of their services
- There are significant veterinary opportunities for the future
