The rise of the 'anti-vaxxers': how should vets respond?

15 Nov 2019
BVA Congress

The BVA Voice survey found that 98% of vets have been questioned by their clients about the need for vaccination. A dialogue between vets and clients is healthy, but vets are increasingly worried about the creep of ‘anti-vax’ sentiment into pet care and the potential impact on animal health and welfare.

To address this challenge, we must first understand what is driving ‘anti-vax’ attitudes. In this session we will explore what shapes people’s views on vaccination and discuss how the veterinary community should respond.

  • - Understanding of the causes of human vaccination critique
  • - Understanding of the causes of animal vaccination critique
  • - Identification of strategies and dangers in responding to critique
