Fundamental to flock success is the output of sufficient lambs for sale. Disappointing scanning results, expensive rams that don't deliver or too many empty ewes are common frustrations for shepherds who need to be maximising their outputs whilst controlling costs. Each of these situations, as well as more subtle ones, provide many opportunities for farm vets to get involved and make a difference to the flock bottom line.
