Flock reproductive success – what are the vet opportunities to improve sheep flock fertility

12 Nov 2020
BVA Farm Theatre 1

Fundamental to flock success is the output of sufficient lambs for sale. Disappointing scanning results, expensive rams that don't deliver or too many empty ewes are common frustrations for shepherds who need to be maximising their outputs whilst controlling costs. Each of these situations, as well as more subtle ones, provide many opportunities for farm vets to get involved and make a difference to the flock bottom line.

  • •Knowing what flock fertility targets to expect & how to work with farmers to achieve them
  • •Know the common reasons for poor fertility of both the ewe flock and the rams
  • •Understand how to maximise breeding season opportunities for farm vets who want to improve their interaction with sheep farmers
