Conference Programme 2020

The top cow consults for mixed practitioners

12 Nov 2020
BVA Farm Theatre 1

This will be in interactive session considering a range of cattle presentations that would be experienced by a mixed practitioner. It will consider the differences in approach between dairy, beef and small holder clients. When considering a number of case presentations, the session will cover appropriate history and clinical exam techniques, consideration around use of diagnostics, and appropriate initial and ongoing therapeutics. We will pay due attention to responsible use of medicines as well as herd-level implications of the case presentation and any potential follow-up. The approach will be based around demonstrating good client communications together with exploring the concept of plan-based rather than diagnosis-based approaches.

  • •Plan-based approach to case load and communications
  • •Logical approach to work-up for common cattle cases
  • •Appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approach
