17 Nov 2022
RVC Clinical Theatre 3

This session will cover the triage, stabilisation, and approach to initial diagnostics in the emergency bird, reptile and small mammal case. This session is aimed at general practice vets wanting to build their confidence in their approach to exotic emergencies, to make them a less daunting prospect in the middle of a busy shift. A logical approach to these cases will be described, alongside some top tips for dealing with the most common emergency presentations and plenty of case examples.

  • -Develop a logical, systematic approach to triage and stabilisation of bird, reptile and small mammal emergencies.
  • -Be able to formulate an initial diagnostic and treatment plan for emergency cases.
  • -Be able to provide appropriate analgesia, fluid therapy and nutritional support for your avian, reptile and small mammal cases.
