Horses with suspected CVSM require careful evaluation and accurate diagnosis in order to maximise successful outcomes. This means recognising affected horses before they become acutely ataxic and identifying what sites may be affected and the reason for the compression. Surgical options are available to resolve the issue and difficult decisions regarding the treatment can be avoided by having an accurate diagnosis and an understanding of what can be expected following surgical intervention.
