Go with the flow: Practical fluid therapy in the emergency patient
Fluid therapy is considered a critical component in the management of the emergency patient and can be a bit of mine field- which fluid, what rate, for how long, which route? In this lecture we will discuss how to decide which fluid is best (crystalloids, colloids, hypertonic saline), how to avoid fluid overload and the importance of recognising comorbidities which will impact our choice of fluid therapy. Knowing when to stop fluids is also important, as too much fluid can be just as harmful as too little.
