How can we better support racial and ethnic diversity in the veterinary professions and higher education? Is a more proactive approach needed? This session welcomes contributions from current students and encourages those mentoring the next generation of vets & nurses. This session builds on previous work to identify current barriers and support needs of Black, Asian, & minority ethnic (BAME) students. We will ask participants of this BVEDS community mastermind for their views, suggestions and support in implementing guidance for placement providers and higher education institutions.
Learning Outcomes
Understanding the current challenges in supporting BAME student vets / nurses & Identify solutions and best practice.
Assist the development of guidance documentation for placement providers and higher education institutions.
Recruitment of a team of volunteers to research, implement the final guidance documentation
