In this presentation, we will discuss ectoparasitic dermatological problems affecting llamas and alpacas. This will include the different types of mange, dermatophilosis, lice and ringworm. Clinical presentation, diagnostics and treatment options will be presented. (HINT: Ivermectin is not often the solution!)
Learning Outcomes
1. To understand how to recognise and differentiate the main causes of ectoparasitic dermatological problems affecting camelids.
2. To appreciate the different treatment options available for parasitic skin problems, with special consideration of the Cascade.
3. To understand the actions to take in cases that appear to be unresponsive to treatment.
