The Team Approach to Chronic Allergic Skin Disease In Dogs: Diagnosis
Canine Atopic Dermatitis (cAD) is a chronic common pruritic skin disease that can impact on the welfare and quality of life of our patients and also the caregiver. It is a diagnosis of exclusion and other causes of pruritus and skin inflammation must be ruled out before we can obtain the correct diagnosis. Dogs with cAD will need continued support and re-assessment to allow for treatment modifications and skin flares to be addressed. Within the veterinary practice team, all team members play a vital role in supporting dogs with cAD and the caregiver on this journey.
This session will cover our current working knowledge of Canine Atopic Dermatitis, what are the clinical signs, work-up and obtaining a correct diagnosis. Managing client expectations, especially when there is a flare is a vital part in the management of this condition as well as the communication between the veterinary team and the caregiver. Using case examples and interactive material, these elements will be discussed to provide a practical approach to helping you with your chronic cAD cases.
