Animal Welfare , Nursing

Happily, cat friendly practice has become well established, with a lot more consideration for how we interact with our feline friends. But vet visits are hard for dogs too, & - historically - this has been overlooked... This session will look at some of the dog-specific considerations which can help our canine friends to feel safer & have better veterinary experiences, alongside improving safety & streamlining our work load. Caring for the mental wellbeing of patients concurrently with medical needs is essential, & we will explore some ways to make our day to day practice more dog friendly.

Learning Outcomes
- Recognise the specific wellbeing needs of dogs - Evaluate the impact of the veterinary environment on dogs - Implement techniques for reducing distress and improving comfort for dogs in practice
