AI on farms - is it good for vets and animal welfare?

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being embedded into farming systems in the UK, and this trend seems likely to continue in the future. This session will explore the role of the farm animal vet in this emerging technology, including the potential opportunities and risks for the profession and for animal health and welfare. It will also consider potential future uses of AI and how that could transform the way farming, and therefore the farm animal profession operates.

  • Appreciate the different ways artificial intelligence is currently being used on farms in the UK.
  • Understand the role of the farm animal vet in the use of AI technologies in farming.
  • Explore the potential opportunities and pitfalls these technologies pose to the profession and to animal health and welfare.
