All unbalanced - assessing and managing vestibular disease in practice

This session will cover the basic neuroanatomy relevant to the vestibular system, and review the clinical signs of vestibular disease as well as tips for accurate neuroanatomical localisation. We will also discuss clinical reasoning and problem solving in vestibular disease, and diagnosis and management of the most common conditions causing small animal vestibular disease.

  • Evaluate clinical findings and apply basic neuroanatomical knowledge to correctly identify cases with peripheral or central vestibular disease.
  • Use clinical reasoning to generate a prioritised list of differential diagnosis for cases with vestibular disease.
  • Discuss the aetiology, diagnosis and management of the most common conditions affecting the vestibular system in small animals.
