Diversity & Inclusion in the profession - is the job done?

20 Nov 2025
IVC Evidensia Theatre
Leadership and Management

Diversity and Inclusion in the Veterinary Profession has been the focus of conversations and initiatives in recent times. Over 6 years since the BVA Report on Discrimination in the Profession 2019, and with the 5th year of the IVC Evidensia Ethnic Diversity Scholarship, alongside and many other programmes and initiatives, we will be looking back at progress and asking is the job done, or is there more to do?

  • Recognize the Importance of Diversity: Participants will be able to explain how diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences strengthens veterinary teams, improves client relationships, and enhances patient care.
  • Identify Barriers to Inclusion: Participants will be able to identify common challenges and biases that affect underrepresented groups in veterinary education and practice, and discuss their impact on recruitment, retention, and workplace culture.
  • Apply Inclusive Practices: Participants will be able to outline practical strategies for fostering an inclusive and equitable environment within veterinary schools, clinics, and professional organizations.
