Diastemata are a common dental pathology found in both equine cheek teeth and incisors. They are widely considered clinically significant due to their correlation with periodontal disease and associated oral pain. Periodontal disease is also often associated with the highly prevalent condition of peripheral caries. This lecture will summarise the evidence available for the treatment of periodontal disease in association with both peripheral caries and diastemata.

  • An in-depth review of the options available to treat diastemata
  • Improve understanding of the different types of diastemata and how to choose the most appropriate treatment option.
  • Gain an insight into the association between periodontal disease and peripheral caries and the latest evidence based treatment options available for these conditions
