Performing dental radiographs is truly the essential of small animal clinical practice. In this lecture, we will explore various dental radiographic techniques, sharing tips and tricks to consistently achieve diagnostic-quality images. Commonly used methods—including intraoral bisecting angle, intraoral parallel, and extraoral techniques—will be thoroughly reviewed. Towards the end of the presentation, we will also cover key aspects of dental radiology, such as image orientation, normal anatomy, and common dental pathology findings.
- This presentation is designed to enhance operators’ skills by providing a clear understanding of dental radiographic techniques, along with practical tips and tricks for performing them accurately and efficiently. Depending on local regulations, while veterinary nurses and technicians may not be legally permitted to diagnose dental pathology, this lecture still includes a radiology component to help all team members recognize normal anatomy and identify potential abnormalities on dental radiographs. We believe that a strong grasp of dental radiology fosters better teamwork during procedures and improves workflow by enabling the team to distinguish non-diagnostic images from those showing dental pathology. This lecture is also suitable for veterinarians.
