This cadaver practical will cover multiple skin closure techniques and help you to manage big wounds by having experienced and practiced different closure methods on cadavers. We will start by covering tension reliving techniques including optimal undermining and closing circular wounds (think large mast cell tumour excisions). We will then move onto subdermal plexus flaps giving you the chance to perform an advancement flap/ H-plasty, rotational flap as well as the inguinal and axilla fold flaps. We will then practice axial pattern flaps including thoracodorsal flaps and caudal superficial epigastric flaps. We will end the 4 hour practical by covering reconstruction techniques of the head and face including facial artery or angularis oris axial pattern flap and full thickness lip reconstructions. The practical will give you the chance to practice these advance techniques under the guidance of Lynda a ECVS and RCVS recognised specialist in small animal surgery; you will also have lots of opportunity to ask questions about your techniques. Lots of tips and tricks will be shared and there will be no surgical technique gate keeping at this practical.
