Practical applications of behaviour change theory

21 Nov 2025
RVC Farm Theatre

To successfully work with animal owners to improve the health and welfare of their animals, it's not enough to have knowledge about animal health and welfare. It is also necessary to understand how we can work with owners to achieve positive outcomes. Often it's not enough to advise on how the owner can achieve better outcomes, we need to understand what might motivate them to make changes to their management practices and engage with them accordingly.
This ultimately improves the lives of animals, and our ability to have more effective interactions with our clients.

  • Develop awareness and understanding of successful applications of behaviour change theory to practical approaches to health management and disease control in clinical practice.
  • Understand the principles upon which those approaches are based.
  • Recognise that behaviour change is complex and having an understanding of what can influence it will help improve outcomes.
