Evidence to impact – how research becomes real-world care
Turning evidence into consistent clinical practice remains one of the most pressing and complex challenges in veterinary medicine. In this session, we explore how IVC Evidensia is addressing this challenge through the design and implementation of Care Frameworks - evidence-informed, behaviourally intelligent tools that support better decision-making in practice.
Drawing on insights from research, quality improvement, and frontline clinical experience, our panel of speakers; Dr Laura Playforth (Group Quality Improvement Director), Dr David Singleton (Group Research Director), and Dr Sarah Cooper (Clinical Director and practising vet) share how Care Frameworks are co-developed with teams, rooted in real-world clinical practice, and used to enable impactful change.
From dental radiography and antimicrobial stewardship to osteoarthritis care, the talk highlights examples of improved care backed by benchmarking and adoption data, while also offering an honest look at the behavioural and practical barriers to implementation, and how to overcome them.
- •Understand how evidence-based Care Frameworks are developed and applied across diverse clinical settings. Attendees will learn how research, experience, and benchmarking come together to create frameworks that support, not dictate, clinical autonomy and patient-centred care.
- •Gain practical insight into how Care Frameworks are used by clinical leaders and frontline teams. Through Sarah Cooper’s perspective as a Clinical Director and practising vet, delegates will hear how frameworks are applied day-to-day to support confident, consistent decision-making in busy practice environments.
- •Identify behavioural and organisational factors that support successful implementation and sustained improvement. The session will offer strategies for embedding evidence-based care through effective communication, shared learning, and data-driven reflection.
