Teamwork in action: Postop complications: Recognition and management of sepsis following GI surgery

Post operative complications after gastrointestinal surgery are not infrequent and can be life threatening as a result of wound dehiscence and sepsis. This case based lecture co-delivered lecture will discuss fundamentals of post-operative management of a patient undergoing gastrointestinal surgery, highlighting red flags that should prompt further diagnostics. Throughout the discussion the importance of vet-nurse collaboration in early identification of wound dehiscence and sepsis will be highlighted.
