The female journey: Endometriosis, menopause and beyond
Women’s health issues such as endometriosis and menopause affect many working in the veterinary profession, yet they often remain hidden or difficult to discuss. Long hours, demanding caseloads, and the culture of care can make it especially hard for veterinary professionals to prioritise their own health and wellbeing.
This session brings together lived experience and professional insight to explore how endometriosis, menopause, and other women’s health conditions can impact daily life and career progression.
Our panel will discuss how openness, leadership, and practical adjustments can create supportive workplaces where veterinary teams can thrive. Delegates will leave with greater awareness, confidence to start conversations, and guidance on evidence-based resources to promote wellbeing and career longevity within the profession.
- Describe the prevalence, common symptoms, and impact of endometriosis and menopause on veterinary professionals eg, physical and mental impact in the workplace and at homelife.
- Identify practical workplace accommodations/reasonable adjustments and leadership approaches to support colleagues affected by endometriosis, menopause and other conditions that commonly affect women, and those assigned female at birth.
