This lecture will use case-based discussion to highlight some of the intricacies in feline urethral obstruction (UO). We will review the pathophysiology and emergency management of the acid-base and electrolyte disturbances seen with feline UO. Attendees will leave with some practical tips and recommendations that can be directly implemented into clinical practice.

  • Understand the pathophysiology and management of acidosis and hyperkalaemia in UO
  • Understand the controversies associated with the heterogeneity of feline UO and the impact of this on management
  • Gain practical tips on managing UO on a budget
