Top tips: My top tips for recognising and managing shock

21 Nov 2025
RVC Clinical Theatre 1
Emergency Medicine

This lecture will use case-based discussion to highlight the importance of a tailored approach to the patient in shock. We will review some baseline pathophysiology of shock but predominantly focus on the ways we can better recognise and manage haemodynamic instability. Attendees will leave with some practical tips and recommendations that can be directly implemented into clinical practice.

  • Understand and recognise the patient with poor perfusion
  • Understand the benefits and limitations of point-of-care ultrasound for the haemodynamically unstable patient.
  • Gain practical tips on managing shock on a budget.
