Antibiotics are often employed when treating cases of otitis but may not always be warranted. In this session we will discuss different approaches to otitis treatment, when antibiotics should be used, cases where they may not be appropriate, and uses of other therapeutic methods.
- Recognize the role of analgesia and anti-inflammatories in the management of ear disease
- Understand what information is provided in the microbiology report and how it can be used in treatment of otitis. Explore the difference when facing otitis externa and otitis media.
- Develop management approaches for each individual patient
- Discuss alternative emerging therapies
