Approach to calvings and other farm emergencies - science and practice

The session will focus on the decision making around calvings - decision making, practical tips and tricks, how long to try, indications for a caesarean section etc. Other common bovine emergencies will also be covered, mainly downer cows, toxic mastitis and digestive problems. The talk will combine over 30 years of farm experience with the current scientific evidence. It aims to give participants, especially new and recent graduates, the confidence to make rational decisions in often stressful situations.
