Mitral valve disease is the most common cardiac problem encountered in canine practice. It is well-studied and we have a range of treatment options available to us. This is a fantastic position to be in as vets, meaning we have evidence-based diagnosis and treatment options, but it also means that we are under pressure to correctly diagnose, stage and treat the disease. In this lecture, Dave will give an overview on how to diagnose and stage mitral valve disease in practice, using tools available to practitioners including the history and physical examination, biomarkers and imaging.
