Adrenal tumours can present significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, but a practical, structured approach can make their management far less intimidating. From the perspective of a veterinary oncologist, this lecture will review the most common adrenal tumour types, discuss efficient diagnostic and staging strategies, and explore how tumour biology influences treatment decisions and prognosis. Emphasis will be placed on selecting appropriate candidates for surgery, medical management or alternative treatment options, and applying oncology principles to support confident clinical decision-making.
- Describe adrenal tumour biology and influence on clinical presentation
- Develop appropriate diagnostic work-up for patients with adrenal neoplasia including hormonal testing, imaging and cytology
- Apply evidence-based decision making to determine the best treatment options including surgery, radiation, medical anticancer therapy and supportive medical management
- Gain insight in prognosis for different clinical scenarios
