Endocrinology
Endocrine disorders such as hypothyroidism and Cushing’s syndrome commonly present with dermatological signs, often mimicking or coexisting with primary skin disease. This session provides a practical approach to recognising when “skin disease” may reflect underlying endocrine dysfunction, and how to investigate and manage these patients effectively.
- Recognise key dermatological signs associated with hypothyroidism and hyperadrenocorticism
- Differentiate primary dermatological disease from endocrine-driven skin changes
- Select appropriate diagnostic tests and interpret results in the context of concurrent disease
- Develop a structured approach to managing patients with coexisting endocrine and skin conditions
- Avoid common diagnostic and therapeutic pitfalls in these cases
