Get in the know about chemo: A guide for the GP setting

This lecture will provide the veterinary team with practical knowledge to safely support chemotherapy patients in practice. We will cover common cytotoxic protocols and agents used, client communication and management of common adverse events.

  • Understand commonly used chemotherapy agents and protocols so the general practice team can recognize their indications, expected effects, and safety considerations in everyday clinical use.
  • Communicate effectively with clients about chemotherapy by providing clear guidance on treatment expectations, home care, monitoring, and when to seek urgent veterinary attention.
  • Identify and manage common chemotherapy related adverse events using practical, GP friendly strategies that support patient safety and comfort while maintaining continuity of oncology care
