Going local: Techniques for locoregional anaesthesia in general practice

In this session, delivered by a specialist in veterinary anaesthesia and a shelter medicine/primary care vet (Advanced practitioner in Dentistry), delegates will learn the ways that both of these speakers use local anaesthetics in day to day practice and the evidence to support their use. There will also be an update on some innovative uses of local anaesthetic to stretch those who are already familiar with local anaesthetic use by the specialist. Attendees will leave with actionable measures that they can introduce into their everyday practice to improve the pain management and welfare of pets in their care.
- •Understand the mechanism of action, indications and contraindications of the local anaesthetics commonly available in small animal general practice
- •Develop practical knowledge of commonly used local anaesthetic techniques for dogs and cats, including the evidence surrounding these techniques
- •Understand the latest locoregional techniques, and consider how these could be applied to your clinical practice
- •Develop an action plan to implement local anaesthesia into areas of your practice
