Diagnostic Imaging
Thoracic radiography is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in small animal practice. However, thoracic radiologic interpretation can be a daunting task. This session will demystify the process. Using a structured, systematic approach combining the distribution/location method, and the pattern approach, delegates will gain confidence in image interpretation. By the end of the session, attendees will have a practical framework they can apply immediately in clinical practice, and hopefully a love of thoracic radiology.
- 1.Explain why a three-view thoracic radiographic study is the current standard of care and describe the rationale for each projection.
- 2.Apply a systematic approach utilising the distribution/location method to thoracic radiographic findings and generate a ranked differential diagnosis list.
- 3.Understand the advantages and limitations of the pattern approach to pulmonary opacity changes and generate a ranked differential diagnosis list.
- 4.Integrate the distribution/location method and pattern approach to refine the ranked differential diagnosis list.
