Risk factors for suspected feline injection-site sarcomas in UK primary-care veterinary practices: a SAVSNET case-control study
Feline injection-site sarcomas (FISS) are rare but highly aggressive tumours that present a unique challenge by balancing the benefits of preventive healthcare with the small risk of adverse events. This session will present findings from a large UK case-control study using electronic health records from the Small Animal Veterinary Surveillance Network (SAVSNET) to investigate demographic and clinical factors associated with FISS. The results will be discussed in the context of current understanding of FISS pathogenesis and their implications for vaccination practices and client communication. Attendees will gain an evidence-based update on FISS epidemiology and risk factors, together with insights to support informed clinical decision-making and balanced discussions with cat owners.
