Sarcoids - to ring or not to ring? That is the question!
19 Nov 2026
RVC Equine Theatre 1
The session will cover why sarcoids should be considered in the wider oncological context and the need for rational, evidence based approach in the face of often a lot of unhelpful equine folklore. The session will explore why the type, anatomical position, use of the horse and economic constraints might influence potential treatment options outside a referral hospital setting. The lecture will be very picture based with a multitude of cases discussed and rationale to consider with each lesion.
- 1) What is a sarcoid?
- 2) How does the type, anatomical position, use of the horse and economic constraints might influence potential treatment options outside a referral hospital setting.
- 3) How do we communicate the treatment options to owners and explain the risk/benefit balance of those options.
