Proactive and preventative use of 3D printed veterinary orthotics to support rehabilitation and conservative therapeutic possibilities

20 Nov 2026
Exhibitor Showcase 1

This session will explore the proactive and preventative use of 3D-printed veterinary orthotics to support rehabilitation and expand conservative treatment options for musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. Beginning with an overview of traditional orthotic techniques and the fundamental principles that underpin successful orthotic design, the presentation will examine how advances in digital scanning, computer-aided design and 3D printing are transforming clinical practice. Drawing on the work of WIMBA, a company dedicated to delivering innovative orthopaedic solutions that restore mobility and improve quality of life for companion animals, attendees will gain insight into how emerging technologies are changing the accessibility, precision and application of veterinary orthotics. Through a range of real clinical case examples, the session will demonstrate practical strategies for integrating orthotics into preventative care, enabling earlier intervention, improved function and better long-term patient outcomes.

  • Understand traditional Veterinary orthotic techniques and the fundamental principles that underpin effective orthotic design
  • Explore the role of emerging technologies in veterinary orthotics and prosthetics, and how they are transforming clinical practice
  • Examine how technology can be integrated into preventative care, enabling more proactive therapeutic interventions for common MSK conditions
  • Apply learning through case-based examples, drawing on real clinical experiences to develop practical strategies for implementing preventative care and proactive therapy in both current and future patients
