Making dermatology consults easier: Killer questions

19 Nov 2026
Sponsored Clinical Theatre

Whether you love it or hate it, how often do you see frustrating dermatology cases? This panel discussion explores how vets can make everyday canine atopic dermatitis consultations easier and more productive. Drawing on real-world experience, the speakers will work through simple questions that can help you get to the heart of the problem and have owners genuinely on board with a treatment plan. The session will also consider what “back to normal” can mean for an itchy dog, how owner expectations can shape the consultation and the use of evidence to help inform your decision making.

  • Assess owners’ expectations effectively to achieve shared decision-making
  • Recognise how owners understand their dog’s symptoms and use a shared language to improve history-taking
  • Apply validated itch-scoring techniques to track progress and support conversations about what “normal” can look like
  • Use published evidence to guide treatment decisions
