Snips, Stones and Small Mammals
This hands-on wet lab focuses on the surgical management of urinary tract disease in rabbits and guinea pigs, with an emphasis on practical technique and clinical application. Using cadaver models, delegates will develop confidence in performing key procedures including urinary catheterisation, cystotomy, and urethrotomy.
The session covers surgical approaches, anatomical considerations specific to small mammals, and common indications such as urolithiasis and urinary obstruction. Emphasis is placed on correct technique, gentle tissue handling, and minimising perioperative complications in this delicate species.
Designed for veterinary surgeons working with exotic and small mammal patients, this wet lab provides practical skills to support effective diagnosis and surgical intervention in rabbit and guinea pig urinary tract disease.
