Tape it or leave it: should we worry about tapeworms? Or any worms for that matter?

Tapeworms are common parasites of cats and dogs but aside from the human revulsion that they can generate, should we care? The potential for offal and meat condemnation from Taenia cysts as well as the profound zoonotic risk that Echinococcus spp present across Europe and in the UK means that these parasites need to be considered when assessing parasite risk for our pets and those  in contact with them. While risk based strategic treatment remains an important part of tapeworm control, diagnostics also play an important role in surveillance and monitoring for resistance.  This webinar will consider UK tapeworms, their diagnosis and control as well as the ever present threat of Echinococcus multilocularis. from the continent.
