Toxocara: A vet and paediatrician’s perspectives on protecting animal and child health

This session is a panel discussion exploring the impact of environmental Toxocara contamination on both human and animal health. Dr Ian Wright, Head of ESCCAP, and Dr Niamh Lynch, a consultant paediatric neurologist, will bring together both veterinary and paediatric perspectives, exploring how Toxocara is encountered and the spectrum of disease it can cause. The discussion will review current guidance for Toxocara control and consider how veterinary professionals can help reduce environmental contamination through risk-based assessment, appropriate parasite control, and clear practical advice for pet owners.
