Flexible Working with Daniella Dos Santos: LVS 2023 lecture preview
Colleagues are now able to submit two flexible working requests per year, from the first day of employment, allowing them to fit lifestyle choices around their veterinary work, which would have previously gone neglected due to the specific demands of their role.
With the veterinary industry facing significant staffing challenges, it’s anticipated that increased flexible working will ensure greater retention of talented staff as well as making the company an even more attractive option for those joining.
Flexible Working is just one of the topics featured in the lecture line-up on the IVC Evidensia theatre at London Vet Show in November, with the talk being delivered by Daniella Dos Santos, Director of Professional Culture for IVC Evidensia.
Seeking a better work-life balance for everyone
The revolutionary flexible working policy was spearheaded by Daniella, a leading voice in the flexible working space, who will be going into much more depth on the subject during her slot at the London Vet Show.
Entitled ‘Flexible Working, it’s not just about mothers’, her talk will shed light on how the policy helps more than just those with family commitments.
In fact, it can help those seeking for the sort of work-life balance that, not long ago, would have seemed impossible to achieve in the veterinary industry. The write up of the lecture is as follows:
Flexible working is often assumed to be just about part time mothers, but that isn’t the case. Everyone has different priorities both in and outside work, and so flexible working is a key component of a good workplace for everyone.
Find out the truth about who wants to work flexibility, why flexibility is about more than just part time, and what that looks like in practice.
Daniella Dos Santos offered her thoughts ahead of her lecture at LVS in November:
“As Flexible Working becomes more and more accepted in the industry, it’s important to highlight this policy for colleagues across the UK and how it can work for them in specifically improving their work-life balance.
“The preconception still exists that it is just for those with children or family commitments, but that is simply untrue as there are wide-ranging benefits for anyone in veterinary.
“I hope that my talk at London Vet Show will help to dispel those myths and allow for more widespread discussion and acceptance of Flexible Working in the future.”
Daniella’s talk, ‘Flexible Working, it’s not just about mothers’ is taking place on day one of London Vet Show at 10.20am in the IVC Evidensia Theatre.
