London Vet Show Event Director takes on 100miles cycle challenge to raise funds for Vetlife.
Harry Norman isn’t shy of a challenge, organizing events for CloserStill for 4 years, recently winning the accolade Best Event Director at the EN Awards 2022, though in less than two weeks’ time, he’ll be taking on one of his toughest yet taking part in Ride London raising funds for the charity Vetlife.
The challenge came to fruition when Vetlife and London Vet Show’s new relationship together began this year. Harry having previously cycled in the race before after training intensely for 6 months back in 2022, saw a perfect opportunity to support the important veterinary charity, by taking part in Ride London once again but with the additional challenge of only having 3 serious weeks to train outside of the rather tame daily 5k commute on his Brompton.
The veterinary community continues to experience significantly higher levels of depression and suicide than the general population. Vetlife provide support to members of the UK veterinary community and their families who have emotional, health or financial concerns, whilst seeking ways to prevent such situations in the future.
Speaking to Harry - ‘I am so proud that we are working with Vetlife at the London Vet Show. It’s an incredibly important charity for the veterinary profession and a vital resource for many. After a number of conversations with Emma Helbert, (Donor Relationship Manager at Vetlife) I decided that I wanted to do something directly outside of our event and help support the profession on two wheels! I will probably still be in pain at LVS later this year, so if I am a little slower on the pink carpet, be gentle with me! ‘
