Medivet Renews Acquisition Drive to Expand UK Footprint
Watford, 16th November 2023: Medivet, a leading veterinary care provider, has today announced a kick-start to its UK acquisition programme, as part of the Company’s ambition to grow its UK presence by 50% in the coming years.
With its unique ‘Branch Partner’ co-ownership model, Medivet supports a community of over 400 First Opinion clinics and network of 24/7 Veterinary Hospitals across the UK. Earlier this year, the Company announced a significant growth investment from a leading group of institutional partners, led by LGT Capital Partners (LGT CP), and now plans to expand its network as part of its future growth strategy.
Commenting on the announcement, Medivet CEO, Chris Cools, said, “It is our ambition to re-start consolidating in the UK, and we want to significantly build our UK network, which I am confident we will achieve. Our Company has gone through a huge amount of change in the last 18 months and we have strengthened a lot of the foundations of our organisation. We have turned an important corner in Medivet’s future, and it’s the right time to start buying in the UK again.”
Cools continued, “The CMA’s investigation into our 2021/22 acquisitions has now closed and we have learned a lot through the process. With new procedures in place, the financial means and a bolstered acquisition capability, the time is right to start acquiring in the UK again.”
Earlier this month, Medivet announced its first acquisition of 2023, confirming Torquay based Animal Health Centre as part of its clinic community - with owner, Marni Miller, remaining as principal and retaining co-ownership under Medivet’s Branch Partnership model.
Commenting on the announcement, Medivet’s Head of Acquisition, Charlotte Jennings, said, “We are delighted to welcome the Animal Health Centre clinic and team to our Medivet community, and excited to have Marni join as our 167th Branch Partner.”
Jennings continued, “The majority of clinic owners we speak with are concerned about the future of their team should they sell their clinic, and for many this can delay their personal decision to sell. Similarly, almost all owners we speak with see a future leader of the clinic in their current team. Our approach to acquisition caters for all these situations. For clinic owners that want to sell outright but continue working in their clinic and with their team. For owners that want to retain equity as a future Branch Partner, and for clinic owners that have team members they’d like to support into a leadership position. Our model is open and flexible to allow all owners and clinic teams to be successful in their clinic, in the profession and in their careers.”
