The new gold standard for post-op care is made with copper!
The level of post-op care has developed dramatically from the first buckets with a hole in the bottom, used due to the lack of professional vet products, to the e-collars and lately the Body Suits and Pet Shirts. The latter are custom made to fit the pets perfectly and, in most cases, will keep the patient away from interfering with the bandage or wound.
The Bodies have become the most desired post-op protection, and in some cases, veterinarians complement them with an e-collar, if the behaviour of the patient so require.
The good news is that these Bodies just got even better. The Spanish company Luna & Milo is launching its new Copper Body at the London Vet Show, which is a Body made from cotton, polyester, elastane and with copper embedded into the fabric. Copper is known for its antimicrobial properties, so the Copper Body is not only a physical barrier to contamination and interference, it also helps prevent bacteria from passing through the body and getting to the surgical site or wound.
”Many vets won’t use bodies after castration because the dog licks the body shirt, and the incision site gets all infected; however, with the Copper Body the chance of infection is greatly reduced” says Luna & Milo CEO Lars Lund.
Luna & Milo will be exhibiting at the London Vet Show at booth B55, where it will display its three different models. The Classic model, which is a unisex model as it has an optional opening for males. This is the most popular model; however, there is a growing demand for the newly developed Male Dog Castration model, as its design gives extra protection around the castration site and helps ensure a speedy and uncomplicated recovery. The 4-leg model is particularly popular for patients with difficult to bandage and protect shoulder or leg wounds as well as for skin disorders.
The Copper Body was invented in Chile and has been marketed for the last 7 years in South America and is now being brought to the rest of the world by Luna & Milo. “I have lived and travelled a lot in South America and seen a lot of good inventions”, says Lars Lund and adds, ”it was always a dream of mine to be able to bring products from Latin America to Europe and vice versa and I’m glad that the Copper Body is the first product we are bringing to Europe and the rest of the world. It is well made and designed; we get so many compliments from veterinarians and nurses when they see the quality and how well it fits. They particularly like our Easy-On Step-In zipper with coat protector, which makes it so easy to put on without stress.”
Most importantly the pets love the Copper Bodies and for sure they would choose them if they had a say. Copper Bodies - the new gold standard for post-op care. It´s Loving Pet Care!
