Norbrook' Laboratories Limited is going for gold!
Global veterinary pharmaceutical company Norbrook® Laboratories Limited, is celebrating 50 years in business during 2019. It was in 1969 that the late Lord Ballyedmond founded Norbrook Laboratories in Newry, Northern Ireland. Four years later Norbrook was selling product across Europe and in Africa, the Middle East and Canada as well as the UK and Ireland, and by 1980 it had added Japan to the list.
Norbrook was granted approval to manufacture sterile injectable products for the US market in 1987 – a major achievement and today, it remains one of the few firms manufacturing outside the US with permission to import sterile injectables into that country. During the same year, Norbrook also accepted its first Queen’s Award for Export – an accolade that it has now claimed on a staggering five occasions. In 2001 Norbrook, launched its first companion animal product and has since launched another 70 products in the UK.
Our golden 50th anniversary has been a significant theme throughout our attendance at the many companion animal, equine and large animal shows and events that Norbrook proudly supported in 2019. At London Vet Show we will be highlighting our long and varied history on our stand (M30), with a chance to win tickets to help us celebrate our anniversary in style, an interactive game (with prizes) and a chance to ask our vets all those questions that you want to know the answer to about our products, but never seem to get the time to discuss.
As well as attending LVS, here in Great Britain we enjoyed some fantastic engagement with customers from across all areas of our business. Highlights included the launch of the Norbrook Nurse Academy, our fifth Parasite Control Specialist (PCS) course and our first ever Dairy Day Appetiser event for farmers! We also conducted a number of Norbrook site tours for farm vets and our Responsible Use of Medicine meetings received great feedback from vets and farmers, all of whom are adapting to the rapid changes and challenges that the industry is facing with restrictions to antibiotic use.
The Nurse Academy meetings encompassed five CPD event days for companion animal nurses at various locations throughout the United Kingdom. Each day was jam packed full of CPD relevant to setting up or improving nurse clinics. Sessions included lectures and workshops by feline experts Dr Sarah Caney and Dr Sarah Endersby as well as veterinary social media expert Sarah Spinks RVN. Nurses went away with plenty of new ideas and practical support tools.
The attendees of the most recent PCS course enjoyedtwo days of AMTRA-approved CPD on parasite control in livestock, companion animals and horses. The course provided SQPs with lecture materials, practical sessions and a talk from a leading expert in livestock parasitology. SQPs gained over 80 CPD points! In addition to the PCS course, Norbrook continues to offer our ProCPD programme which gives SQPs access to a selection of informative bulletins on animal health topics to help them continue and enhance their professional development.
If you’d like to find out more about any of the aforementioned events please come and visit us at LVS stand M30!
