Meet Pumpkin – The Paralyzed Westie with a Big Heart was not born paralyzed; her spine had been broken, but has no pain. Pumpkin was rescued at eight weeks old, and her new family instantly fell in love with her. Not knowing what to do about her condition, Tammie (Pumpkin’s owner) met with a Vet and was recommended a dog wheelchair. “Despite everything she has been through, she is the happiest little dog,” said Tammie. Pumpkin’s family has been advocating for disabled animals, raising awareness, fundraising, saving lives,as well as donating wheelchairs to animals in need. They are now an established charity called Pumpkin and Friends, where they work tirelessly 24/7 for the “underdogs” who need mobility assistance. Since beginning their charity just 13 weeks ago, Pumpkin and Friends have helped over 30 dogs into Walkin’ Wheels wheelchairs. Not only is she an advocate for the special needs community, she is also a registered therapy dog, regularly visiting hospitals and schools.
All proceeds from the 2023 Walkin’ Pets Calendar will be donated to the Handicapped Pets Foundation to help disabled and injured pets in need get wheelchairs.
