Anna Lara Garcia

Ana graduated from the University of Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain in 1998 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and completed a PhD in platelet function in dogs with cancer in 2003. She then moved to the Ohio State University (OSU), USA, where she completed an internship in oncology and a residency in haematology and oncology. She earned her diploma in Veterinary Oncology from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 2007 and also from European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA) in 2008. She is an RCVS recognised specialist in Veterinary Oncology. After one year as Oncology Clinical Instructor at OSU she joined the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) as a lecturer. Here she developed RVC Oncology Service at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals and was Head of Service between 2009 and 2014. She has been part of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Veterinary Oncology (ESVONC) since 2011 and its President since 2017. Ana joined IDEXX UK in early 2018 as an Oncology consultant. Her main interests in oncology are new anticancer therapies, lymphoma and renal carcinomas, but she is happy to discuss all oncology cases. Away from work, she enjoys cooking, photography and spending time with her family and cats.
