Ben Harris is the Clinical Director at Wear Referrals, a multidisciplinary specialist referral hospital in the North of England, and is an EBVS and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine
Ben graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2002 and spent seven years in private veterinary practice in London, where he developed a lasting interest in internal medicine. He returned to Cambridge to complete an ECVIM residency training programme in small animal medicine, during which he undertook clinical research, supported veterinary students, and completed an externship in South Africa to gain wider clinical experience with infectious diseases.
With over two decades of clinical and leadership experience, Ben has focused much of his career on supporting veterinary clinical standards and professional education. He helped establish and lead an ECVIM-accredited residency training programme at a previous referral centre, where he also served as Head of Quality and Governance.
Ben is active in veterinary professional education, currently serving as the Specialty Chair of Internal Medicine for the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM) and as an ECVIM Exam Committee Member. He serves on the committee of the International Society for Comparative Hepatology (SCH), is a Governance Committee Member for the Mars Petcare Biobank and a Core Member of the Mars Veterinary Health Europe Clinical Board.
