Charlotte Mayers
Founder,
The Mayers Veterinary Clinic
In 2022, after facing challenges returning to work following maternity leave, I made the decision to leave my corporate-owned practice. With two small babies at home and two older children, I initially planned to work as a locum but instead set up a small clinic room in our granny annexe. Word quickly spread, and within two weeks, I had to hire a receptionist. Today, we are a team of three mum vets, a student nurse, and four experienced nurses, running a busy, efficient, and well-reputed practice.
I'm passionate about sharing my story with others in similar situations, as starting a practice was more achievable than I expected, and I hope to inspire others to consider "going it alone."
