Emma is a veterinary surgeon and passionate champion of curiosity, human factors and patient safety. She is the veterinary risk analyst at the Veterinary Defence Society, developing data-driven insights that help teams optimise opportunities to learn and drive constructive, system-focused improvements across the profession. Emma is experienced in applying systems analysis frameworks and human-centred design processes to optimise performance, outcomes and quality improvement strategies. Emma is a member of the CIEHF and both a graduate and current tutor for the University of Edinburgh’s Masters in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors. She is actively involved in research and collaborative initiatives to promote systems thinking and patient safety within the veterinary sector.
