Helen qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2000 and has worked in both first opinion and referral practice. She holds certificates in Emergency and Critical Care, Small Animal Nutrition, and the Advanced Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Surgical). Following completion of an MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors at the University of Edinburgh, she is undertaking a PhD at Sheffield Hallam University exploring the non-technical skills required for veterinary anaesthesia. Helen is passionate about advancing the profession's understanding of Human Factors to improve patient safety, enhance performance, and support team wellbeing. She lectures internationally and is the recipient of the 2026 RCVS Inspiration Award.
