Ian became a RCVS and European Specialist in small animal medicine in 2005 and subsequent worked within the medicine team, eventually becoming head of the medicine service and an director of the practice (Davies veterinary Specialists). In 2022 he was appointed as the Global Pharmaceutical Stewardship lead for Mars Veterinary Health. Alongside his clinical work, Ian has always had a keen interest in projects in which the companion animal sector can contribute to One Health. Of note, in 2012 he conceptualised and developed the BSAVA " Are you PROTECTING Antibiotics scheme " for which he received the BSAVA Melton Award and was awarded the RCVS fellowship for meritorious contributions to clinical practice. In addition to his work in Rabies prevention and control in underdeveloped countries for the charities Mission Rabies which he has served as chairman of the Trustees for 10 years and is now currently a Trustee of The Worldwide Veterinary service. Ian is also a specialists advisor for the charity Street Vet and a member of the Defra Core Rabies group.
